Tremblant’s Daily Honest Snow Report w/videos “FRESHIES”

My goodness today was just incredible with the 15-18cm of fresh fluffy lite and dry POWDER snow. But we had allot and I do mean allot of wind starting the morning off making for chilly bones on the chairlifts. Riding up the Duncan you had the wind blowing in your face and it ran on slow most of the day because of the wind.

Expo chair did not open until 1pm because of the wind as well. La Soleil chair broke down in the afternoon. Vouchers were handed out because of it. And the Customer Service dept did a good job handling the situation. I do know this. Allot of money and time went into repairing the La Soleil chair over the summer because of it’s breaking down reputation. Today was just a fluke. It’s like when you have your cars transmission replaced and then a spark plug goes bad on you type of situation on that chair today.

Now here is how the day ended for me. Hiking up to ski Le Griffe before the Expo chair opened.

And yes the mtn was very busy today. We had over 11,000 visitors on the slopes today. Most people stayed on the South side. The south side did have the better conditions today. But you paid for it at the wait at the Gondola and TGV.

Playing in La Soleil for a few runs early in the am. I cannot describe how giggly I was in these turns. Yeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaa

Ryans was sweet today as well because it is hiden from the wind.

More snow is on the way and don’t forget to get your New Years Eve plans in order by purchasing your tickets NOW!!!!!!.

Tremblant’s Daily Honest Snow Report w/videos “NOT THAT BAD”

Well the conditions were much better today than yesterday but snow is needed. I saw some icy spots on all the trails that were open. The “Edge” was closed today. Needed to be actually because the Edge is mostly gladed terrain that the groomers cannot get into. However, the marbles and beaver balls were like being in a Rollar disco.

Don’t forget about the added nightly activities

Tremblant’s Daily Honest Snow Report w/videos “ATTENTION: WEATHER UPDATE”

*****DO NOT DRIVE ON ROADS.  VERY DANGEROUS THE RAIN HAS FROZEN ON THE ROADS MAKING IT VERY HAZZARDOUS DO NOT DRIVE ON MONT-TREMBLANT ROADS*****

OK here is the “NO BS” info. Around 1 am tonight it is going to start snowing, however by 5 am it will be freezing Rword and then Rword until late Sunday afternoon. Then a cold snap is going to hit us and we all know what that does. But by following the radar image above it looks like right now we are in between where all the moisture is. Hopefully it will stay that way until the jet stream comes back down bringing cold air with it changing the Rword to snow.

Starting off the day. Beauchemin to Lowell Thomas, to Fuddle Duddle. The snow was not to bad, but there were ice patches and it was firm everywhere on the mtn

Yes we are supposed to get snow on Monday. I have no idea as to how much. All I know is that it will take the snow crew and groomers 2-3 days to fix the runs. Yes ITW will open runs on Monday but most will have ice balls everywhere.

Now today the Edge chair had it’s problems once again and was closed for a while. Only Toboggan was open on the Soleil area.

Folks this happens in the East Coast, but trust me some heavy duty snow storms are on the back door of this, but you all need to do your snow dances and keep positive snow flake thoughts.

Tremblant’s Daily Honest Snow Report w/videos “MERRY CHRISTMAS”

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Well everyone another Holiday Season is upon us. This is the current conditions. Now the videos on this report are from Yesterday.

About 11pm last night we got a funny inversion that sent the temps up to +4C 39F. This caused all the snow to warm up and we had some lite Rword. But then at about 4am a cold front came through with a quick freeze and heavy winds.

The south side of the mtn did not open until 11am. La Soleil was not open, and is supposed to be tomorrow. But to be honest stay on the groomed trails until we get snow on Saturday. The glades are very hard right now.

Tremblant’s Daily Honest Snow Report w/videos “LA SOLEIL IS OPEN”

Yep folks. Soleil is open and they really expanded and cleared the glades over the summer. Now I’m sorry this report is short. I’m going into the village to film some Christmas Festivities.

Enjoy the videos from today.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Tremblant’s Daily Honest Snow Report w/videos “7 INCHES MORE”

Looking out at Geant during first tracks and untracked.

Well today was cold and windy again. Seriously cold and seriously windy. Edge area was delayed in opening for an hour because the workers will still on the gondola which was stopped for an hour because of high wind.

La Soleil was not open. Only Lowell Thomas, Flying Mile, TGV, Expo, Edge, and Duncan chairs were running. McCulloch was closed for racing. Superior was closed for snowmaking. The best place to be today was off of the Expo chair.

With a minimum 3-night stay, for just $50* extra, you get 2 days of skiing, 3 lunches and 3 breakfasts. Hurry up! You must book by February 19, 2009.

Tremblant’s Daily Honest Snow Report w/videos “CHECK OUT THE SIT SKI IN POWDER GUY”

You know there are some days in your life where you get the special opportunity to witness something special. Today I ran into Chris Holden. Chris is the “National Adaptive Developement” adaptive water ski, and snow ski disabled sit ski instructor. I was amazed at this mans ability and joy today.

You can find more information about the “Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing” @ www.cads-ncd.ca

Now we had extremely high winds this morning. Yes the gondola was open but they told everyone up front it would be a one hour ride to the top. So ITW staff bused everyone to the North side. The Duncan, Expo, Edge, and Lowell Thomas chairs ran throughout the day. The Duncan never really got past slow however.

Now even with it snowing as hard as it was, the winds made the top of the mountain a complete whiteout, with scetchy conditions untill you got below the wind. So the Edge was the place to be today and we tore it up.

Tremblant’s Daily Honest Snow Report w/videos “brrrrrr Part II”

Well they opened up Expo and everything was groomed up kind of like marbles on Sissy Schuss and Fuddle Duddle. Also on Fuddle Duddle they had the guns going full blast. Buzz glades rocked today and had the softest snow because of sun exposure

North side trails had the softer snow and the best of those trails was Duncan. Geant had golf balls from the groomers taking care of the man made snow bubbles over the last few days, and they were blowing snow hard on Superior. Now we are still trying to recover on some trails from the Rword last Monday. This bitter cold is perfect for making snow, but we do have some marbles on trails that will be gone tomorrow with this next storm.

South side was pretty firm everywhere. McCulloch was closed for racing. All the trails were firm. The best actually was Upper Nanson

With a minimum 3-night stay, for just $50* extra, you get 2 days of skiing, 3 lunches and 3 breakfasts. Hurry up! You must book by February 19, 2009.

Now Intrawest is beginning their activities over Christmas this weekend. Tubing, ice skating, outside animation and other things going on in the village at night so go check it out.

Now tomorrow around 9am it is supposed to start snowing and snowing hard. In fact snow is in the forecast for all week long over Christmas so please be careful and take your time getting here if you are driving. Also first tracks is starting this weekend too over the Christmas break so you might want to take advantage of this opportunity while you are here.

Well I’m off for a night in the Village.
