Tremblant Snow Conditions Report 10Mar2010 (video)

OK. Not going to lie to you. Just a few runs and trails are starting to close due to lack of snow coverage. But the main trails they blew snow on like crazy are in great shape. However the following runs were closed today.

La Soleil Glades,Emotion,Tunnel,Danzig,Les Rapids,Dynamite,Ryan’s,CBC,Boiling Kettle, Fripp, Buzz, MCA.

We need snow on the few trails that snow making didn’t take place on and rocks/brown spots are on the runs listed above. Right now it is up in the air on what the forecast will bring Sunday. I’m praying that Yahweh will bring us snow. So keep positive thoughts on SNOW SNOW SNOW.

Spin festival starts soon and you can get a the spring pass for just $99 at www.tremblant.ca

Tremblant Snow Conditions Report 9Mar2010 (video)

Well over night things got cold and stayed cold today. Temps got just up to freezing on the mtn. Kandahar, Grand Prix, Vertige, Zig Zag, Danzig, Ryans, Laurentian, Expo, Windigo, did not open today because the temps did not get up enough to soften them. They are bumps and boiler plate.

We do need snow. The trails they made snow on should be fine to last until April 11th, but any trails that did not have snow blown on them will not be skiable after this weekend. Rain is in the forecast for this weekend. Was supposed to be snow at first but now they are calling for 3 days of rain. So please snowdance.

Tremblant Snow Conditions Report 6Mar2010 FANTASTIC SPRING SKIING TODAY

Most likely the best spring skiing day I’ve ever had at Tremblant. Grooming Crew did a great job on Geant, Duncan, Superior today. Heck actually everywhere.

In this kind of spring snow you cannot make a wrong turn. Seriously. Frankly I’m amazed at how conditions are holding up. But there is a reason for that. What most people don’t know is that over last summer Station Mont Tremblant replaced all the snow nozzles on the guns, and got some new fan guns. Meaning they could blow out more snow than ever before. And it shows.

Today I skied with Neil Champagne the Vice President of Operations for Station Mont Tremblant. And I must say I was surprised. He can ski. Actually pretty darn well.

But what is more importantly he showed me the future expansion maps for Trails and lifts. And it is going to happen. Gonna take some time, but Neil is very dedicated to expansion. He even wants to eventually put a poma platter to go up to Jo Peak.

I saw the Timberline trail plans for La Soleil. North side, Nanson, White Peak, and Jo Peak. I was left wishing it was now.

But one thing I really noticed when skiing with him. He was checking the exact same things I do every day. Which to be honest was very nice to see.

I’m currently working on the video. Here are some pictures.

Tremblant Snow Conditions Report 3 March 2010 (video)

OK folks here it goes. It was another sunscreen skiing kind of day. But in spring time here in Tremblant when we have clear sky’s over night the temps really drop and things freeze up. So some trails are delayed in opening until they warm up. That is why Grand Prix, Vertige, Zig Zag, Laurentian didn’t open until after 12 noon today.

Also don’t ski the glades in Le Edge until afternoon as well so they will soften up. Other than that it was a great sunny day of skiing. School breaks are in full swing but the crowds really aren’t there. No kidding. I never waited longer than 5 minutes today in a liftline. This afternoon it was ski down and get right back on the chair.

Buzz glades, Frippe, Danzig, Dynamite, Emotion, Sensation all have rocks and not recommended to ski unless you have your rockers on, or your rentals have insurance.

Tremblant Snow Conditions Report 2Mar2010 **NEW L’ALGONQUIN TRAIL** video

Boy what a great sunny day. The new “L’Algonquin” ski trail is open at Versant Soleil. But you better ski it before 12noon because that is when they close it because it is all natural snow. And with the warm temps and to be honest we have not received our normal snow fall this year, so just a few rocks and some grass spots are starting to show on trails. So pay attention to the hazzard markers put out by ski patrol. Snow is in the forecast for next week. Lets all do some really good snowdances so we get dumped on.

But hey the skiing is great, with ego snow to turn on. Just wear sunscreen.

Tremblant Snow Conditions Report 1Mar2010 (video)

Well it went like this over the weekend. Friday night at 5pm it started snowing hard until about Midnight then it turned to rain until morning. Then it switched back to snow and we got an addition 3-5″ on the north side of the mtn and just 2 inches on the south side. No we did not get the snow everybody else in New England got. I must be honest.

But the conditions are really good. Snow is nice and soft. They did open the Algonquin trail for and hour today until the warm temps made coverage thin so they closed the trails. I’m not going to kid you. We do need snow. So snow dance.
